Chapter Meeting, August 3, 2010

The CRCTU August meeting was both informative and entertaining.  Dave Wallace and Montey Kirby presented information on building a two strip bamboo rod. Both presenters have been building bamboo rods for several years.  Montey, from Hazel Creek Rod Company, demonstrated splitting bamboo and straightening the strip. Dave, of Rods of Campbell Farms, discussed heat treating the bamboo, planing, gluing and attaching ferules, making handles, finishing and wrapping guides.
