North Mills River Conservation Fund Drive Successful!

Our Chattooga River Chapter Board of Directors approved a $500 donation to this effort.  Many of you CRC members contributed directly to this effort.   

    We received the following email from Damon Hearne, TU’s Southeastern Land Protection Coordinator.  The Chattooga River Board of Directors approved a $500 donation to this cause.

"Hello SC TU council and chapter members –  

Thanks to your generous support (and that of your fellow TU members in NC and SC) we have reached our $30,000 goal for funds to secure the Big Creek Lodge property on the North Mills River.  Chapters and members from throughout the region (including very significant support from SC) contributed generously.  The NC and SC councils also made significant contributions which are a great signal to the grassroots that this is important work – thank you for that.  

It is very exciting to see TU membership stepping up to permanently protect coldwater – this is a historic accomplishment that will be a great success story to share with other regions.  We’ll be in touch with more detail when the transaction is complete."
